Farmer and Animal Welfare Network (FAWN)

The Farmer and Animal Welfare Network (FAWN), previously known as the Early Warning System was launched in December 2021. The objective of FAWN, which operates under FAWAC, is to provide a framework within which farmer and animal welfare problems can be identified and dealt with before they become critical or overwhelming by increasing awareness, improving accessibility among the farming community and facilitating intervention for at risk herds at an earlier stage, building on and enhancing a multi-stakeholder working partnership, aimed at resolving issues at a local level.

Regional FAWN meetings are held twice annually, with additional local level meetings encouraged, ensuring engagement with a full range of animal and human health/wellbeing services taking a ‘One Health, One Welfare’ approach.
